New Era communications presents Meet the Motivators 2K19 and we are pleased to invite you to a weekend long Symposium bringing together experienced and emerging leaders from across our great country.

This event will bring together leaders from different fields to explore what leadership for and by women means. This year’s MTM event will celebrate some of the most exceptional and influential women across Canada.

Presenting our keynote Speakers 2K19

The Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine:

In 1993, Jean Augustine made history. She became the first African Canadian woman elected to Canada’s House of Commons. She served as the Member of Parliament for the Toronto-area riding of Etobicoke-Lakeshore, winning four consecutive elections until her retirement from politics in 2006.

Jeans work as a parliamentarian included service as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, Minister and Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and the Status of Women, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Committee and chair of the National Women’s Caucus. Dr. Jean also played the leading role in bringing Black History Month to be recognized in Canada.

Christine Maclin:

Director of Human Rights for Unifor National

With over 315,000 members in every major sector of the economy, Many of Canada’s top labour leaders are a part of Unifor and Christine ensures that Human Rights remain Workers Rights!

Honourable MP Judy Sgro:

Since 1999, Judy Sgro has, as the Liberal MP for Humber River – Black Creek (formerly York West), advanced an agenda that is progressive and respectful of human rights, equality, and religious freedom.

Prior to federal politics, Judy represented her community on the North York City Council (1987 to 1994) and Toronto City Council (1995 to 1998) where she focused on poverty and crime reduction. It was this attachment to people that led Judy to Ottawa.

With nearly 30 years of experience in politics Judy has offered help to new MP’s by showing them the ropes on the hill and making them more comfortable in their new positions.

Dr Nothabo Ncube:

International Speaker, A Coach and A Millennial Mentor. Having overcome her own personal and professional obstacles, her powerful story encourages this generation to face their challenges and conquer them. Her story led her to meet the media mogul, Oprah Winfrey and just recently she shared her life journey on the TEDx platform.

Dr, Thabo’s captivating and compelling message is sure to revive hope, raise consciousness and empower women to lead a bold, purpose driven, joyous life.

Jeff A.D. Martin

Author and motivational speaker Jeff A.D. Martin has long had a passion for helping and serving others. Over the last number of years he has been sharing this gift with the world and inspiring through motivational speaking. Jeff has also done so through his Children’s book, "Brothers from the 6 / Sisters from the 6: Role Models in my community".

Jeff was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and raised for most of his childhood in the tough community of Rexdale. Despite obstacles and setbacks, Jeff attributes the path that he is now on to an unknown Police Officer who pulled Jeff over one day while he was driving down the 401 highway. “The Police Officer was black, which was uncommon for me to see in my neighbourhood. He looked like me, he spoke like me, he even joked with me and that planted the seed within me”. Because of the power of visuals, Jeff could now see himself within that role. After pursing this new awaken desire, in 2005 Jeff was hired as a Police Officer. Jeff has worked in investigations in the Criminals Investigation Bureau and the Special Victim’s Unit.

Karen Calder: Coaching and Consulting

Is an Organizational Development Consultant, Facilitator and Coach. She has 30 years of progressive experience with some of the largest Canadian Companies. Walmart, Home Depot, Quebecor, TD Bank and Right Management.

A former executive at Walmart Canada, Karen is an influential leader who specializes in leadership development, women empowerment, creating innovative HR/OD and talent management solutions. Architecting and leading complex organizational change and culture projects.

Svetlana Ratnikova

Svetlana Ratnikova brings a wealth of national and international experience to the company — from entrepreneurial, corporate, recruiting and marketing. Svetlana is the founder of one of the largest and most success networking groups named Immigrant Women in Business. The IWB network currently boasts over 5,000 members and 4 locations throughout Ontario and growing!

With a record of starting and transforming organizations she is skilled at designing winning strategies, identifying new opportunities and mobilizing teams to achieve results. She is a values-driven and passionate about being on the front edge, inspiring growth and developing teams. As a seasoned business leader with 25 years of broad experience Svetlana concentrates on building and nurturing agency culture of professional growth and client-service excellence.
